MIAMI (UPI) -- The Miami Toros earned a berth in the North American Soccer League championship game Saturday night by defeating the Dallas Tornado 3-1 in a semifinal contest before a rain-soaked crowd.

The Toros will face the winner of the Boston Minutemen-Los Angeles Aztecs game next Sunday for the championship.

Derek Watts opened the scoring for the Toros with a right-footed shot off a pass from Steve David after 21 minutes of play. Eight minutes later, Warren Archibald controlled a Watts pass on the left side and curved a vicious 25-yard drive off the right post for a 2-0 Miami lead.
