MIAMI (UPI) — The Miami Toros — runnersup to Los Angeles in the North American Soccer League last year — have fallen on hard times.

After an impressive start this year, the Miami squad has stopped five straight, the last a 2-1 double overtime loss to the Philadelphia Atoms Friday night.

The defeat gives the Toros a 10-7 record and puts them almost out of reach of the Eastern Division leading Tampa Bay Rowdies. Philadelphia now is 8-8.

The winning goal Friday came from three yards out by Manny Matos on a short pass from Tony Cavanaugh at eight and one-half minutes into the overtime.

The Toros had gone in front in the second half on a goal by Warren Archibald, but Philadelphia's Chris Bahr scored at 70 minutes, sending the game into overtime.
