Kelvin Barclay's tenacious goalskeeping paced the Los Angeles Aztecs to a 2-1 upset over Monterrey Sunday in exhibition soccer.

Barclay made 10 saves, seven in the second half, and his stingy defense gave up only one score to the leader of the Mexican soccer league.

Los Angeles scored first when forward Uri Banhoffer slammed a low shot past diving Monterrey goalie Jose Ledesma nine minutes into the game.

Jerry Kazarian, 20, tallied the Aztec's second goal with two minutes left in the first 45-minute half.

Barclay held Monterrey scoreless until Basilio Salazar kicked in a 15-yard shot with 11 minutes left in the game.

Los Angeles coach Alex Perolli used five substitutes in the game, the maximum limit allowed by the North American Soccer League.

The Aztecs play three more international exhibition games, the second next Sunday against
Atlante of Mexico City, before beginning league play May 5 at the East Los Angeles College stadium against Seattle.
