PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad, April 5, (AP):

Trinidad's Football Association (TFA) has appointed Paul Regis, a former track star as trainer of the national squad, it was learned today.

Regis fills the vacancy created by the banning of Trevor Smith, who trained the Trinidad team during a football tournament last year in Costa Rica.

Smith was banned for 15 years by the TFA. The Association also fired tour coach Claude Maurice and Ernil Paul, a vice president of the Port-of-Spain league.

The TFA is currently preparing for the upcoming Haiti and Chelsea soccer series.
