NEW YORK (UPI) — The Pittsburgh Phantoms have been "tricked" into the bottom of the National Professional Soccer League's Eastern Division.

The New York General's heretofore scoreless Leroy Deleon kicked in three consecutive goals — known in soccer circles as a "hat trick" — to send the Phantoms from third place to the cellar Sunday with a 3-1 loss.

New York moved from the cellar to third place with a 9-10-7 record. Pittsburgh is 8-13-7.

Deleon, an inside right, had played in only four previous games.
