PORT OF SPAIN, June 13:

THE Governor General Lord Hailes has personally contributed $100 (WI) towards expenses of the West Indies Football team shortly to tour England, and himself and Lady Hailes have expressed "hope that the team will have successful as well as a very happy tour."

Replying, the Football Association secretary Mr. Eric James, told the Governor General that it was the first time the West Indies footballers have been honoured with such an invitation.

"Their Excellencies wish of success therefore has come as a stimulant at a time when it was most desirable. We give assurance that whether or not this venture is crowned with success on the field of play, we will live up to the reputation of good sportsmen and worthy citizens fo a new nation.

"Meanwhile the contribution in Trinidad to the tour fund, has cross the £1,000 mark.
