ST. GEORGE'S, August 5:

TRINIDAD'S BWIA soccer team was defeated 4-1 in their opener against a mixed Grenada team.

William Gittens drew first blood for the homesters with the only goal in the first half.

Midway the second, Joseph Charter, inside left netted twice again for Grenada. Trinidad's only goal followed when Vaughan Amow at centre-forward converted powerfully from a right corner kick.

Grenada played before an apparently charmed goal, missing several times till Lester Howard scored a fourth and last goal of a medium paced game.

Philbert Charles, visiting back, hurt his ankle near the close and was taken off the field.
