CONCACAF juveniles playoff

TORONTO, Aug; 19 (Reuters):

NICARAGUA, Cuba and the United States won matches Sunday in the playoffs of the North-Central American and Caribbean Soccer Association tournament, while Costa Rica and Trinidad drew.

Nicaragua defeated the Dominican Republic 2-1 in GROUP ONE while Costa Rica and Trinidad drew 1-1 in GROUP TWO. Cuba beat Jamaica 1-0 and the U.S. defeated Guatemala 2-1 in GROUP THREE.

The winners in each group will participate in a round-robin playoff next week to determine the two teams to meet in the finals here on September 1.

Nicaragua, which shares first place in GROUP ONE with Canada, got goals from Lena and Cuadra in defeating the Dominican Republic, which got its goal from Damasco Garcia Sanchez.

Regino Delgado scored Cuba's only goal as lt's goaltender, Alcridez Sorla Do La Cruz, turned in a strong performance.

Costa Rica gained its tie with Trinidad when Freddy Miranda Arrieta scored on a free kick with one minute remaining. Trinidad's Winston Hackett also scored on a free kick.

The U.S. got goals from Tony Graham and Don Aubuchon while Rosula De Nos countered for Guatemala.
