
MIAMI (AP) — UCLA defeated Cornell 1-0 and St. Louis beat Howard 2-1 in sudden death overtime Wednesday night, advancing to the final of the NCAA soccer tournament.
Fesseha Wolde-Emanuel of Ethiopia scored for UCLA on a right angle shot.
Dan Counce made the sudden death goal for St. Louis, a head shot with 6:23 to go in the first overtime. Dennis Hadican had the other St. Louis goal. Ian Bain scored for Howard.
UCLA and St. Louis meet for the championship Friday night in the Orange Bowl.
