Captains Shake HandsCaptains Shake Hands: Pryor Jones, Trinidad's captain, shaking hands with Major Allen, Jamaica's captain, as the Trinidad Football Team arrived in Jamaica yesterday.

JAMAICA'S first football tournament since 1938 with an overseas team taking part, opens this afternoon when Trinidad meet Combined Schools at Sabina Park, kicking off at 4.30 o'clock. The game will last for two 35-minute halves.

The tournament will also mark the second Intercolonial series to be held in Jamaica and as in 1935-36 Trinidad is the other country involved. As in 1936, the Schools will provide the first match of the tour.

On that occasion, Arthur Wilkinson's men routed the youngsters 5-0 but although the former side appeared to have been a heavier combination the present local team after having gone through the paces with Major George Allen, might prove to be superior in cleverness.

Today there is no local "survivor" of that Schoolboy team really playing regular football; but Trinidad boast one such player in Prior Jones, the captain of the current side.

An interesting and curious crowd was present at Sabina Park yesterday afternoon to see the visitors limber up after their afternoon arrival, the practice being confined mostly to "kicking-in" at either goal. There was some accurate shooting indeed, but at either end the two goalkeepers, Joe Gonsalves and Ranny Merritt, revealed good technique and confidence. The spectators were impressed. Our visitors play in studs and not bars.

The size of the team varies, surprisingly the backs not being big fellows, whilst JOnes and Ian Seales (half-backs) seem towering.

Not having time to settle down after a quick practice following their arrival, the visitors were not quite settled with the composition of their teams for the first match today, they will pick the team this morning.

The team will be presented to the Hon. Douglas Judah and Miliza Korjus before the kick off at 4:15 p.m.

The Jamaica Military Band will be in attendance from 3 o'clock.
