5 new faces in line-up for Trinidad visit

THE TEAM to represent Jamaica in the first football match against a visiting side from Trinidad at Sabina Park on January 21, was announced by the Jamaica Football Association yesterday.

The rest of the team, which is captained by former England amateur player, Franz Alexander, who will play at inside right, is Selvyn Murphy (goal), Walter Chevannes (right back), Bill Gentles (left back), Karl Largie (right half), Ken Hamilton (centre half), Frankie Lewis (left half), Noel Tappin (outside right), Anthony Hill (inside right), Elvin Schloss (centre forward), Clovis McLean (outside left).

Reserves are Kenny Williams (goal), Marsden Chen, Ted Ansel and Aubrey Lowe.

New faces on the side are Bill Gentles, Frankie Lewis, Anthony Hill, outstanding schoolboy who led St. George's College to the Manning Cup and Oliver Shield championships, Elvin Schloss of YMCA and Clovis McLean.

Largie is skipper of St. George's Old Boys, who last season captured the Senior League and All-Island soccer titles.

Murphy, many-time Jamaica representative in goal, played up to last year for Railway, but now keeps goal for YMCA. He is Jamaica's No. 1 goalkeeper today.

Tappin, hard-shooting forward who usually plays at centre, and right back Chevannes, are both from Melbourne, Hamilton, who has also represented Jamaica on many occasions on the back line, is a member of the University College of the West Indies' XI.

Gentles and Lewis are stalwarts on the St. George's Old Boys team, whilst McLean is captain of Kensingston, who, though not near the top of the tables, have figured in many big upsets this season.
