LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles Toros ushered in new National Professional Soccer League with a 3-2 victory over the New York Generals before 9,048 fans Sunday in the Coliseum.
Quick goals by Dragan Djukic in the 15th minute and Eli Durante in the 20th gave the Toros a 2-0 lead they never relinquished.
Warren Archibald scored the first New York goal in the 24th minute. Then Durante scored again for Los Angeles in the 36th minute.
New York's second goal was scored by Berry Mahy in the 45th minute.
