COMMANDER Charles Hayward, M.B.E., president of the Trinidad Amateur Football Association, arrived last week by Pan American Clipper from Camaguey on a brief visit en route to Trinidad. He will remain for about a week.
Commander Hayward went to England four months ago with the Trinidad footballers who played a series of matches in the U.K.
On the return journey, he stopped in New York visiting Capt. Gene Tunney a former world heavy weight boxing champion, and Colonel Eddie Fagan, who are patrons of the Trinidad Amateur Boxing Association.
He also visited President Batista in Havana, Cuba.
Plans had now been finalised, he said, for the visit of the English footballers to Trinidad later this year. There was a possibility of the team visiting Jamaica.
Commander Hayward is to have talks with officials of the Jamaica Swimming Association.
