Of the nine games played this season by the Howard University soccer team, it as won them all. Early in October the team beat nationally ranked and undefeated University of Maryland, 2-1. Howard has also defeated Warren Wilson College in North Carolina, 8-0; Morgan State 8-1, and Georgetown University, 11-1.

More than half of Howard's team are freshmen or sophomores and leading scorers, Alvin Henderson (19 goals) and Keith Aqui (17), are freshmen. The Howard coaches are Ted Chambers (a star of Howard's 1920 football team) and Lincoln Phillips (who is all-star goal keeper for the Washington Darts (soccer team). Phillips also coached the Bowie (Md.) State College soccer team.

Howard's is an offensive team relying on its attacking front five, a close group. The team lost its All-America Tyrone Walker by graduation last June, but it still has hopes for victory in the NCAA.
