A 38th minute goal by Stevie Yearwood gave K and SI Phoenix Club of Trinidad a 1-0 win over Harbour View in their CONCACAF football encounter at the National Stadium on Tuesday evening.

The game was not of high standard but the local team got the first scoring opportunity, however left winger Carl Grant muffed the chance. Phoenix Club in the meantime got things under their control carving out some neat man to man combinations with Everald Cummings being most impressive and being a menace to left back Burt Robinson.

Midway the first half Wayne Percival should have put the visitors ahead but he miss kicked the cross inside the area. Harbour View later got their best chance of going ahead when a penalty was awarded by referee Errol Moodie. The penalty taken by Mark Salmon was brilliantly saved by goalkeeper Matthew George.

Phoenix Club who played the better brand of soccer eventually, scored the lone goal. Cummings who picked up a loose ball, eluded his man, pushed to Percival on the right wing. Percival crossed low inside to Cummings who left it go by to the unmarked Yearwood on the left wing. Yearwood had enough time to control, turn and unleashed a powerful, left footer.
