PLN. THOMAS, March 9.--Barbados suffered an ignominious defeat this afternoon by seven goals to one at the hands of Trinidad, in the first Test Match for the Martinez Shield, in the presence of a fair crowd of soccer enthusiasts.

The game was poor, and like all one-sided contests, provided little interest.

It, however, proved a personal triumph for H. Achong, who scored four of his side's seven goals. He has a dangerous shot in either foot, and shoots first time.

PORT OF SPAIN, March 14.--Barbados were literally swamped in the third of the series of Test games played in Demerara yesterday, to decide the fate of the Martinez Shield.

Opposing Demerara, they were heavily beaten by 9 goals to nil, and are thus two down, Trinidad having previously won against them in the first representative game, 7--1.

For the winners, Donald found the nets four times. Lopez scored thrice and Mathias and Small once each.
